Samurai for rice!!!

Koku is a game based loosely on the film "7 Samurai", in my journey to understand the themes in the movie better I found the Koku system from feudal Japan, if you have time you should look into it, its fascinating.

Have fun choosing from 3 Samurai with different attack patterns, as you fight through a variety of bandits. Make it to the end to find some original art to celebrate your victory, I hope you enjoy exploring the possibilities in this little game! : )

Attack = Space Bar

Move = WASD or the arrow keys

Nicely stylized and executed idea. On a few stages you can go off-screen, not sure if that is a know issue.

Enjoyed the little puzzles of solving the stages, although the stage with the pikemen line in the front with the archer army in the back seemed impossible with my setup. Will try to beat them later!

Also, today I learned what koku is, so that is a plus point!

Separating the fighting and the samurai management was a nice idea.

Well done!

Nice! I like how there are 2 separate parts where ur the village and the samurai, art is sick. It's kinda cool how you need to learn how the attacks work cus its not just the area in front of u, if they get too close ur foobard

Thanks for playing it! I hope i can muster some more creative juices to make the village a little more interesting maybe some more npcs and who knows maybe more samurai or other classes, i need to keep working on some of those hit boxes too xD

Artwork and game concept are fantastic! Really love the style!

Thanks for playing and for the kind words! I really wanted to focus on that Ukyo-e style of art, and I think I got close to that!
